This place looks to be making some killer stuff and I am interested in placing an order once Paypal decides to release my money. Has anyone done business with them lately? How are they to work with? What did you think of the product?

John is awesome to work with, is he taking orders again? Cabs sound phenominal, you won't find a better made or sounding cab, honest. Pricey, but worth the investment if you want the best and plan on keeping it long term. I've had my 2x12C, semi-open back since 2008. I've had Bogner, Avatar, Port City, Freda, Heritage/Mather cabs and the StoneAge is superior in every way. That said, his prices have been slowly going up..I think I paid around $425 for my cab whcih was a stretch back then. They are now priced at $525, steep for an unloaded 2x12. I guess if he's that busy (one man shop I think) then he can charge whatever he wants as long as he has a backlog of cabs to build.

Yep, a few weeks ago he had red text on his lead time page stateting that he was nto currently taking orders due to a backlog. Looks to be pack in motion now though.

IMO you won't find a better built cab and John is a great human being. Although not inexpensive they're worth every penny.

In the not too distant past, John at Stone Age Cabs supplied Metropoulos amplifiers with their combo cabs and may well have supplied the amp head box's as well.
He is a very good guy.
Times are hard, they affect everyone, I had only heard excellent things about the small but mighty operation. Just price unloaded cabs to basket weave Marshall 4X12" metal handles spec '68- '69. Scumback $700 ,Metro true replica cabs are $1100 unloaded, albeit the Metro cabs are from an HG Wells time machine they are that scary dead nuts on, even having Whitworth threaded machine screws ect.
Stone Age have always in my experience, since 2005 maintained high quality with integrity

Great reputation, and he has alot of experience with various speaker types like the EVM12L and knows how best to build for them and others.

Many thumbs up from me and people I know that use them. Record great, and great on stage too. Not exactly like an old Marshall, but in lots of A/Bs people like them better for sounding more solid. They are built super strong.

That's no problem. If I wanted them to sound exactly like old Marshall's I would have just kept the old Marshall cabs. Space considerations aside, I just need something new. Everyone and their brother are using vintage, repro vintage etc and while its all good I want to go in a different direction with some of my gear

I have a vintage Avatar 1 X 12 closed back on the way, everyone on the DR Z forum speak highly of them, we'll see, i'll be putting a G12H30 and playing this with an open back Swart that I have a Celestion Gold in.

John built me a 2x12 "C", Scumback loaded cab 2 years ago. The build quality and tone are great. He is very meticulous and keeps you in the loop through the whole process. Very honest and easy person to deal with.

Indeed. Just got a second up date on my order. I have the Scumbacks in hand waiting for their new home
