• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Does anyone know if the Stainless Steel Posts Mod for an ABR-1 will work on an ES-330. I mean, I'm sure it's doable, but how far can you drill down into the top before you go through it. Mine look real wimpy & have slight movement in them. You'd think SS would be one way to strenghten up the bridge, especially if the screws are driven deeper onto the top? There is wood under the top. Just how much...I'm not sure?

Take a look inside the f-holes at the thickness of the block underneath the bridge. I'm not sure of the exact thickness, but there isn't all that much. If you should drill your holes deeper and go through the bottom of the block, it's not a big deal - you'll only hit air, after all.
If you want to go deeper with the posts, preferably don't do it by just screwing them further in if the holes are already in bad shape - there's a risk you'll strip the little thread you have in the wood. Pre-drill with a very skinny drill bit first, to ease them in.

I did exactly this when I put longer posts on my R0, the factory ones were ridiculously short.
