A tremendous amount of "munge" in addition to weather checking...even if you don't care or take precautions to protect against weather checking one would think any pro musician would wipe the sweat and grime off his instrument occasionally just to make it more appealing to play...I am also of the opinion that a clean and well-maintained instrument will be more serviceable and result in fewer on-stage issues than one that has been abused...I recognize the aforementioned opinion may be unpopular with some...
