Is it a bad idea to leave the arm on the Maestro tailpiece of an SG during shipment? I'm pretty sure that Gibson ships SGs with the trem arm attached, but I wanted to get some other opinions. Any help would be greatly appreciated- thanks!!...

Remove it

I did this with my Floyd equipped guitar, yeah I had one. I would do the same on a Maestro too just as a safety measure. I always reduce string tension and take any misc attachments off and put them in the case storage area. Better to be too anal about it then have to deal with the possible problems. :)

You have to remove a Floyd's arm for closing the case. For long hauls I would remove my Firebird VII's arm but, they don't stick out as much.
