• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

If anyone in the San Diego area is considering making a visit soon to Centre City Music... I would like to make a request that you DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT check out some of the really cool left handed Les Pauls they have there, and do not tell me anything more about them. ;) Do not grab a hold of either the left handed Peter Frampton signature series LP (how the hell did a LH one of those manage to get built?) or the funky quilt top cherry burst LP Elegant, and most of all do not go anywhere near the Class 5 LP having that very cool tangerine burst finish...
Do not mention if that Class 5 happens to feel to be relatively light weight, and do not plug it in and tell me those burstbuckers are really sweet...
Damn, damn, friggin' G.A.S. attack... :wow

Ok Brian, I won't head over with my Lefty buddy, who hasn't been jonesing for a good Les Paul since he didn't get that fat promotion. Nope won't do it. :lolspin

I recall a thread a while back about Centre City, and most people made some form of positive comment about his Gibson guitar stash, saying things like "that place is evil" or "that place is dangerous on your wallet". :lolspin Saul and Centre City does tend to come up with some seriously big time lefty gear, I think he also still has an L4, LP Standards, Classics, Customs, Class 5s, and now an Elegant...
I'm really digging the look of the tangerine burst Class 5, and the specs are not bad either (long neck tenon, burstbucker pickups). That quilt top Elegant also had me looking twice... Rather rare and unique beasts in left hand...
Tonefiend if you do end up wandering there sometime in the near future, and you or your friend take a look or maybe noodle just a bit on those guitars, don't tell me about it 'cause I could get seriously messed up... ;)
One thing I know is that if I won the friggin lottery one of the first things I would probably do is get the next flight to San Diego and also arrange to have a left handed FedEx truck meet me at the store. ;)

Fortunately, I'm not left handed but 8 of CC's Gibson guitars have passed through my hands on their way to England in the last 6 months. Well, actually 7, as one amazing R58 stayed with me!

All were beautiful guitars, great sounding and nice players.

I guess that Ed Roman deals with a different Gibson Company?

CC music also has Class 5's with P90s! I'm staying clear of that place for a while - too dangerous!

Speaking of lefties, did you see the original lefty 3PU Custom at Rumbleseat? You don't see those every day! If I were a lefty with deep enough pockets, that one would have me sweatin'!

Speaking of Center City, someone was put off by Saul's hard-sell/enabler style in another thread. I can understand that. But if you don't mind it, and you like to haggle yourself, I think you can get some screaming deals there.

3pup Custom at Rumbleseat? I have to think that must be the one that was offered a few times on ebay in recent years, from 1960, think the ebay seller was looking for 10K but did not get any takers... unless Rumble decided to go for it and try to resell for even more $$$.

As to Saul at Centre City, he has a certain enthusiasm and if he senses you are at all interested in some guitar he will try to do what he can to make a deal. I suppose it's possible for someone to misread that or take it a bit too seriously depending on the type of people they are used to dealing with, their own personal style (quiet conservative versus more outgoing aggressive. etc.)
It's like a lot of situations whether business or personal where once you get to know at least a little about someone's style or personality then's it cool, no prob.

Okay, I'm never going to go back to his web site to check out his inventory, never going to do that again, no way, not going to happen... ;)

BrianGWN, help me please

I've decided after 31 years of banging on the guitar right handed that I need to become ambidextrous, and since I want a Les Paul Custom 3 pickup model.... could you please give me the website address for Centre City Music?

Oh, wait a minute.... is this it?

http://www.ccitymusic.com/

I'll let you know what's left of their inventory after I'm done maxing my Mastercard, my Visa, and my Amex, OK?;)

I didn't go anywhere near it, but I hope you don't mind that I had it shipped here. Happy birthday for my wife!

I sometimes wish I was a lefty! Sigh.....

Ohh-noooooooooooooo!!
JimW, dude you did WHAT??? You grabbed that Class 5, damn! hee hee. ;)
I found another post of yours where you provided a link to some pics of what must be the wife's lefty guitars, good stuff. I have pics in a picturetrail account, clink of the www button at the end of any of my posts.

Congrats on getting that Class 5 for the _WIFE_, that is just boggling my mind! I've seen one other Class5 tangerine burst when I visited SouthPaw in Houston back in October 2001. I figure if I ever made it back to Centre City I might have trouble getting out of that place without that guitar. ;)

So where generally are you located?

Next, I must make some kind of comment regarding the whole left handed guitar playing wife situation. Please don't take this the wrong way, but DAMN! ;) If there is any way I might someday end up in wife territory, that might be one way it could happen, a left hand playing woman who would naturally tolerate my lefty gear stash. ;)
Should I ask the obvious question?, does she have a sister?, left handed playing or otherwise? :lol :lolspin

...damn, the lefty Class5 tangerine burst at Centre City has been scooped, but if it got a good home well then that's okay. ;)

BrianGWN,

I'm from Chicago, had the wife long before she took up playing. I don't play at all, so for me the gear hunt is my bit. As far as Centre City, I've never had the chance to be there (or Southpaws) but dealing with Saul was really a welcome change from some local places here. Went to a place here called Maken musin (sp?) and what great gear they had. I asked where is all the great lefty gear and the answer was (drumroll please) "Never-Never land". What Province are you in?

Never Never Land and Brian's house must be the same place, he's the reason that there is a shortage of lefty Gibson guitars out there :)spin

HEY! That was a shot at me! ;) Look in recent times I have sold no less than four of my left handed herd (sob =(, if you love them let them go...), so I definitely am not a total LH guitar whore, geez give me a break. ;) :lol Asking how many I have left in the stash after selling a few is not allowed, nope, not gonna go there... ;)

JimW, CanuckL and I are in Southern Ontario.
