• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

The new tuner buttons look nice.
Is it just me or is the cherry back color still not as vibrant as it used to be?

Too bad they dropped the Gotoh for the WD/Kluson tuners. The Gotoh were far nicer tuners...buttons are easy to change if that bothers you.

I'm with you on this one. Then too, the WD/Klusons aren't really all that "accurate", either. They're just inaccurate in different ways.

Glad you said it, I hesitated as I thought its probably only me that would notice. But yeah, you get the single line Kluson Deluxe writing and nicer buttons but now the housing is bigger/taller, the shafts are dome top not flat, the Kluson Deluxe writing still isn't right, the buttons are much better but still wrong.

Just as inaccurate but different...and you give up superior Japanese craftsmanship!

Just tuners though...no biggie!

6 of one...

Really nice guitar though! Man, whish none of my Gibsons had the truss rod rubber :-(

what's up with the nut now? Is it still nylon or?

How do the "custom buckers" differ from Burstbuckers? Just that the resistance is more a roll of the dice, haphazard?

I'm just curious...I am not trying to pick this thing apart as I haven't had a new Historic since 07....

Is the plastic the right color now?

That's what I keep hearing, that the new Klusons aren't all that good...either the quality of construction, or the height/shape of the string post, etc.. I have a few sets of the Gotohs as well as the ones that came on my R7. Always liked them. Replaced the keys on one with new Kluson buttons, but mounted them in a bit too deep so I have the original green-biutton ones on now while I try to fix that. Might have to get another set of buttons.

+1

These are the same tuners on my 60th Anniversary '52. The buttons do look better than those on the Gotoh tuners but the tuners themselves are no where near as nice as the "JAP" stamp Gotoh tuners.

You are correct too in that the body is all wrong on the WD/Kluson and that in itself bugs me far more than the button color.

The Gotoh tuners are going to replace those WD/Kluson on the 60th '52 ASAP. :2zone

Meh...I'd like to see pics of it without the overexposed flash. I would guess that top is pretty average in person.

The nut looks like the pre-2009 (Corian?) nut. Or maybe it's just how the color came out with the flash.
