RSD Tubes anygood?

Are RSD tubes any good? 6V6's and 6L6's are what I am wondering about.

Is RSD just a rebrand type?

I also came accross some RAM tubes with TubeWorks labels and they sound very good in my fenders. (5751's, 12ax7's and 12at7's)They may be a high grade because they glow a little darker than the RCA's, GE's and JJ's.

I don't know much about their 6L6s or 6v6s, but their 12AX7s have a good reputation. If my memory recalls correctly, they are Euro made. I believe from the same factory that Tungsgram tubes are (Hungary). I could be wrong.

Great, thanks for the info. Did the 12ax7's have the smoked glass like the 6V6's do?

Any idea why the glass is smoked on some tubes? is it to hold heat better?

The RSD 12AX7s that I've seen did not have smoked glass. Yeah, that is funny about the smoked glass. I'm not sure what it's for. I had a GE 6v6 in my Victoria 518 (Tweed Champ repro) that was smoked too. Funny thing is that the longer I used the tube....the smoking actually got lighter. It was pretty darn light after it went. I wonder if they used it as a tube life indicator?? Not sure. I replaced it with a Mazda 6v6....which has a grey coating of sorts inside the tube. You can't see through it.....except for the top of the tube. It's fading a bit after about 4 months of use (and I push it pretty hard).
