• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I just spoke the the tech. at Guitar Trader in San Diego. He's had my LP for the past two weeks to "fix" the Jimmy Page wiring mod that the other shop did. He says to come get it, but he had "a lot of problems with the wiring". Oh no, not again! This time around I had provided him with the real Gibson schematic graciously provided by Gibson as well as Robert Sherman. Well, I have yet to confirm it, but he says that it doesn't work according to how the Gibson description says it should. Does anyone know if:

A) the Gibson schematic is correct, or

B) there are any competent tech. in San Diego County who can follow a wiring diagram?

I assume that the schematic is good, since others (including Gibson!) claim to have used it.

Disclaimer: I will be seeing the guitar in about an hour, so I will then really know what kind of irregularites the guy at Guitar Trader indicated.

Extremely frustrated,
Robert Mosack

Wrong Wire Colors !!!!

I just got back from the shop and found a kind of funny faux pas. It turns out that the tech. forgot that my Les Paul has Seymour Duncan 4-conductor '59s in it. He wired it as if it had Gibson pickups. The color codes are totally different. Almost every in-between position was out of phase. I couldn't make heads or tails of half of them! I'll find out tomorrow or Saturday how it sounds when it's wired right!

Stangely, although it's still not done, I feel relieved at the moment.

Sometimes all we want is an answer, it doesn't have to be the one we'd like to hear, just an answer with some conviction. Yes sir, you could've won the lottery, we'll just have to confirm your ticket. The wiring may or maynot be what you want tomorrow but you can at least sleep tonight.
