@oceantoad all of these pictures that you share of Paul McCartney are fantastic to say the least along with the bonus of him playing a vintage Les Paul! I was one of the lucky ones who, on Feb 9, 1964, sat down & watched the performance of The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show--that was a powerful moment in my life that has never diminished--I have my father to thank for that moment in history!

K_L, Steve,
I too saw Ed Sullivan show in February. I was at the Hollywood Bowl August 1964 with my Piano teacher in my Mom's Box Seats. She was an Opera singer, first Soprano, and did not like the Beatles>lol.

Bit by the bug!!

Here's another for the bass players!

Three months from today, Paul and the band open a three-night stand in Sao Palo, Brazil.
Photo below is from his last performance there in March of 2019.

Rock on Sir Paul!

@oceantoad really great pictures [all of them!] that you share with us--thank you very much! I don`t know which are better--the pictures seeing Paul himself or the incredible original Les Paul he`s playing! He`s always been such a special man!

And also so cool that you saw them at the Hollywood Bowl on their first US tour in 1964--wow! Who was louder--The Beatles or the screaming girls?! Haha! Seeing them 'live' had to be incredible for you then & even now with that memory!

I remember buying 'The Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl' LP in 1977 & loved it so much [even thought the screaming was overwhelming--haha! Beggars can't be choosers!]. All the performances were great along with the 'in between banter' by John, Paul, & George.

But then when it released as a CD in 2016, being proper remastered & edited,
gave us something even more special! And to know that you were there for those actual 'live recordings' has to make everything even more special for you!

Plus also the 2016 DVD release 'The Beatles: Eight Days a Week--The Touring Years' was/is also so fantastic.

I miss John Lennon--so tragic. I do wish he would`ve never gotten into LSD etc as I think that changed him & his musical talent but drugs were a big part of those years. His 1966 words on how The Beatles were more popular than Jesus caused alot of controversy but I think they were misconstrued by the press & therefore totally mis-understood by the people. By then , though, the band was heading 'undergorund as individuals & as a group. Sorry for my long ramble here!

Yeah yeah yeah! Being there at the Hollywood Bowl, I remember . Seeing the Beatles (mom's box was pretty close) I remember, the only problem it was next to impossible to hear the music over the screaming! When the songs stopped...so did the screaming (somewhat) We could hear them talk in between the songs a little better... but when they started singing again> it was like a "million" seagulls all at once, & when they "bobbed their heads" the decibel level tripled. I bet the sound guys heads were exploding! Anyway, kudos to Sir George Martin for sorting it all out decades later we finally got to hear the music. I'm thankful that Paul and Ringo are still touring. Timeless...

There's the 1961^ Höfner everyone is looking for!

Paul McCartney is, in my mind, the most treasured, valuable pop musician, singer, songwriter of all time. He is THE icon of pop music. The day he leaves this earth will be a huge, monumental day.
