Old Schecter

I don't remember seeing many of these posted around here, so thought I would share a few pics of mine as I was doing some work on the electronics:

Early Van Nuys / Anderson mutt, such a nice feeling & playing guitar and some superb figured wood; it currently has some active high output Duncan, I'll probably switch to lower output & more classic passive pickups, I have a set of old 70's DImarzio that I think could be great in there.

Show me the back. I take it they mounted the pickups through the back. Beautiful workmanship there.

Yes Pickups are rear-mounted, you can access them by a bigger rear trem cavity plate:

Great wood on this, no doubt.
The logo looks like later years. The VanNuys had black or white solid color logos, while the later years (Texas) had this silver writing with black outerlines.
This is btw the first older Schecter with a Floyd i can remember of.

Thanks. That guitar is a special one-off "mutt", it was assembled by Tom Anderson in 86-87? for a session player using an older early Schecter neck and a custom body Tom purposely made to match the neck at that time.

Sharing a recent photo in its new outfit:

I swapped the electronic for some old 70's Dimarzio single coils and went for the classic white look, I like the MK Pensa/Suhr vibe it has and sounds great with that setup :salude

Very cool.
I have a similar guitar - sort of.
'96 Custom Shop,
birdseye maple neck, swamp ash body with flame maple top.
Similar amber color. H-S-S pickups, with a pull-pot on the tone knob. I think it's a coil tap, but it affects all 5 positions on the switch, so I'm not really sure what it does.
I don't have any pics uploaded anywhere to post here.

About the switch, have you looked inside the electronic cavity to see how it's wired/setup? May be it's a filter of some sort? Or did you checked what is the exact pickup wiring config on the selector?

Schecter's standard setup around that time was 3 tapped pickups with a single switch activating the tap.

Reminds me of my Pensa-Suhr.

John used Schecter and Anderson raw wood parts, as I recall. Even heard that MK's red Strat that saw a lot of 1980s Dire Straits action was actually a JS Schecter build.
