• THIS IS THE 25th ANNIVERSARY YEAR FOR THE LES PAUL FORUM! PLEASE CELEBRATE WITH US AND SUPPORT US WITH A DONATION TO KEEP US GOING! We've made a large financial investment to convert the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and recently moved to a new hosting platform. We also have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
  • Please support our Les Paul Forum Sponsors with your business - Gary's Classic Guitars, Wildwood Guitars, Chicago Music Exchange, Reverb.com, Throbak.com and True Vintage Guitar. From personal experience doing business with all of them, they are first class organizations. Thank you!

I played a real '57 once, and the guy hadn't changed the strings since like '57 so I have no idea how it would really sound, and the action was too low. Just my luck, dangit. They look very cool, but one would be enough for me.

Strings can be changed, action can be raised.

I have never liked the middle position on a custom. I don’t like the sound that much compared to a normal LP and the pickup often gets in the way. They look great, usually are heavy. But there is a reason I have all the other varieties of LP but no 50s custom. Maybe a 2pickup version one day :)
