Well, someone had to do it. This is my '72 deluxe with Trobak P 90's. first pic is how it looked when I got it. The rest are from this week. Kim is still working on it but I'm pretty stoked with how it's progressing now.

But how big is the tonal difference?

Super cool. Was it original darkback or was that redone also ?

Also, does Kim do paint in house or shipped out ?

Is the finish on the center goldtop original ? They sure look close in that pic.

No difference in the tone that I can tell. It still sounds great!:salude It originally came with the same back color as the one in the middle. That caramel type look. At some point the whole thing was stripped and covered in a dark brown stain or something. When I got it the stain was off the top but not the back or neck. It was pretty bad. Kim does all this in house. He's got a killer setup in the shop. He's runnin' it like a business not a hobby. The one in the middle had just the top painted about 10 years ago by Holger Notzel in Baton Rouge. He's one of the best vintage guitar repair and restore guys in the country. He didn't age it at all. It's been played a lot since then and before. I bought it brand new in 1971 and played it 4 or 5 sets a night for over 10 years. It's a wonderful guitar.
