Ever since I found my '90 Fender Strat Plus in a pawnshop a few weeks ago, I decided I want to hunt down some more Plus's if I could find them for a good price.

Well last weekend I stopped by a second hand guitar shop where I frequent, and they just happened to just get in a few of these older Plus Strats.

It turned out that 2 of them were built in '90 which is the same year my son was born and the other was a '95.

I tried them all out a really liked the 90's a lot because of the Gold Lace Sensor pickup and the had really good necks.

The '95 is a little different with the Blue/Silver/Red pickups and this one has the Fender Floyd Rose bridge. It was good in a totally different way.

I took all 3 up to the counter and asked for package cash money deal.

They weren't pawnshop deals, but were cheaper than any E-bay,Reverb or most that are posted on CL.

I found out the secret to these guitars is how close you get the pickups to the strings. If you have them too low they can sound lifeless and sterile.

I've heard this complaint and it was valid because all 3 guitars had the pickups too low. Once I adjusted them, they were a totally different animal.

I'm really happy with all the tones I'm able to get out of these guitars. I like that they offer something different than all my other strats.

Anyway here they are:

'90 Black (E9), '90 Ebony Frost (N9), '95 Sunburst:

Nice Pluses!

I think in Fender speak tho that the N9 model is a '99 (N for decade, in this instance 90s, and 9 for the last digit of the year), the E9 model should be an '89 (E for 80s and 9 for the last digit of the year), and the red, silver, blue spec model should be from '04 as it appears to have the 50th Anniversary insignia on the headstock.

I always thought it cool that these have the whole cutaway bursted. Kind of sets off the back a bit more. Enjoy! :salude

Thanks Dan.

But the E9 is actually a '90 per neck date code. The N9 is a '90 as well. There were no N9 pluses ever made. The 9 on the N9 should have been a N0, but they screwed up the serial number when printing it out.

Thanks DM.

I really like the color too, and I'd never seen that color on any Fender Strat in person before.

After playing the guitar, I knew it had to come home with me.

The electric I learned to play on was a '90 American Standard. A close cousin to your Pluses.

I might have to revisit Lace Sensor Golds at some point.

I missed these Strat Pluses when they were 1st introduced back in the late 80's

I'd never really had a chance to play one until I found a '90 Strat Plus

in a pawnshop about a month ago. I was so impressed with the guitar

that I had to see if I could find some other Pluses I could pick up.

When I found these 3 for the price I could get them for, it was a no brainer.

The Gold Lace sensors are really great sounding pickups, but you had to get them up close to the
strings to get the best tones out of them.

I learned that when I was trying to balance out a 3 pickups.

Once I got them raised and all balanced, they sound awesome.
