This one is going on the other forums as well but here you are so here it is. I was looking to replace my '99 Les Paul Classic. I was trying to put together a trade deal using my '05 PRS McCarty and a couple of fairly uncommon pedals but I got no takers. So, while drooling at LPs on Reverb, I saw this one.

This is a 1999 Les Paul Classic Premium Plus. I felt like the top was stunning. I'm not knocking flamed or quilted top LPs but this one had a unique grain pattern that made me want THIS one. The seller imported it from Japan. Gibson confirmed it was one of theirs. There is so little wrong with this guitar... except the pickups. These are the stock Gibson 496R / 500T pickups and they are WAY too hot for what I like.

I've been playing it through my '73 Marshall JMP and the pickups gotta go. It's like having an overdrive pedal on all the time. I assumed they were going to be too hot so I bought a pair of Gibson Custombuckers and they arrived today as well. So did the TonePros aluminum nickel finish tail piece. The original tail piece was had been replaced with a non-Gibson one. The new Gibson plastic jack plate arrived too but the LP came with a new Gibson metal one to swap out for the cracked original one so I'm probably going to use that one.

The Custombuckers have nickel covers so it's going to change up the top a bit but I'm okay with it. I'm going to use a MojoTone solderless wiring kit with those pickups. I swapped out the stock strap buttons for locking Schallers, like I have on all my guitars. She got assigned her own Franklin strap and we'll be good to go tonight or tomorrow night after her "operation".
