• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Ever since I started getting into Les Pauls I have been on the hunt for the perfect 59 reissue but I have just had a spanner thrown in the works..

Its just a plain old GT from 93.. it started life as R6 and it has been Grovered, Bigsby and has been routed for PAFs..:laugh2: This is it for me, number 1.. The carve is amazing! its super light perfect setup and neck is like a rock..soooo different from any reissue I have played, its more like the real 57 I played a few weeks back. My R9 has been in the case...I just don't play it anymore (well its gonna get refin soon..)

My R9 is a great guitar no doubt, but this R6 just beats it hands down!

Looks like it is time to sell the R9. No need to refinish it. But wait until the honeymoon is over first.

There's something about the not-new tint a Goldtop gets after at few years that is so much more appealing than the brand new look.

Looks like there's been quite a gunfight by the end pin.

Something about those 1993-1994 Historics. They got so much right and then seemed to go backwards a bit. Play it in health, looks like a keeper!

I'm happy for you Mark... no matter how pretty they look (flame tops), in the end it always comes down to tone and feel... sounds like this is the one you've been searching for. :salude

+1 My '93 R9 is the only guitar that I play ALL the TIME!. My '07 is great too, but there is something really special about the '93.

Yeah its had been on the road since 90s thats why its so aged! The binding is soooooooo rolled! Its a great LP and I'm really happy, but I have noticed that it needs a bit of a tweak on the nut of the G string..its not as bright as other strings so I will need to get that sorted out. I can't wait to plug it into a decent amp (my 65 Vibrolux is getting fixed) and see how it sounds.

I'm just using a HRDLX at the mo until my amp is back and it still sounds killer!
