• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Just got this in yesterday from Sweetwater.

I rarely play my R9, but I wanted a Heritage Cherry Burst LP for a long time. So, on a leap of faith, I had them send this one.

I have to say that I am impressed with the newer Gibson output. My last 5 Les Pauls and ES-335 were all Historic models. This compares very favorably with my R9 guitars.

I am not loving the 61R and 61T pickups. I find they are quite brittle sounding. So, I am in the hunt for a set of Custombuckers to go in this guitar.

For a Les Paul that you can buy new for less than $2400, this is really quite amazing.

She's a looker for sure; Congrats and enjoy.

What are the specs? I'm not familiar with them.
This is a Sweetwater exclusive specified model. The AAA top and color are not a Gibson "catalog" color for the 60s model.

The main specs are:

NON weight relieved body
Silm taper 60s neck shape
61R and 61T pickups
Grover Rotomatics
ABR-1
AAA maple top
Heritage Cherry Sunburst

Yes, MAP is 2899.99 on these. But if you are a regular SW customer with a good sales rep, you can get discounts.
Oh my god, I have spent many, many thousands over the years with the same rep and I have never been offered a discount. I buy things on a very regular basis. Thank you for telling me that. I cannot wait to bring that to her attention. Wow.

You are "supposed" to ask... and this is stock/market conditions pending. Doesn't always happen.

I just did the math. I think I have spent $20,000 there. I’ve had the same salesman since day one, so probably ten years. I’m pissed off that she didn’t mention it to me. I will address it with her.

Interesting to note: Sweetwater's 50s AAA version is equipped with 57 Classics.
The big box stores change a few things on their "exclusive" models. I would rather have had 57 Classics in this one.

I had an SG with stock 62R & 61T pickups. I hated them then. I guess they are not for me. But that is an easy fix. I can then sell the 61 pickups. Someone will want them.
