• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

the other guitar player in my band is giving me an sg with a wobbly neck that i plan on using for slide..the guitar is a roach, but it will be perfect for open "e" tuning for a few songs a night..i planned on having the neck reset locally, at a shop, but wanted your opinions on how much something like that will go for...

i know its an sg, but i am in need of another guitar!!

I don't know what N.Y. (City?-probably insane) prices run. If you were here and wobbly neck means that the glue joint has let go, no wood damage and no nerve-wracking disassembly, I'd do it for maybe 30 or 40 bucks. I'd have to see it. (All right, 25.)

The important thing is to make sure that our man uses hide glue, (hot glue) and that he knows to get the neck angle right. Not to mention straight.

Talk to people, there are a lot of hacks.

Wobbly as in the truss rod not working? I have seen the truss rod let go on a few and it makes the neck real rubbery, pray that this isn't what happened.

I'd have to see it. Is the heel cracked?
Depending on what needs to be done, a crack is about $75-$100 to fix in the real world by a competent tech. If the neck has been broken, and poorly repaired, it needs to be removed and reset, it is considerably more. $300 +
