That's a clean one, handwired! I played through one of these recently. At first I was not impressed, really thin sounding. Then I started messing with that single tone knob and holy cow! This thing has balls!

Yes, the Tremolo channel is very (too) bright, but if you jump the two channels or just run into the normal channel, the sound gets thicker and has more bottom end.

I’ve owed a few of these in the past, and and always had a love-hate relationship with these 18 watt (EL84) Marshalls.

This particular amp seems to be different, it is not the least bit boxy or thin sounding. Of course, it sounds much better with the volume at noon and higher.

Unlike my JTM45, the 1974x’s loudness does not compare with how crazy-loud my 30 watt KT66 powered amp is.

Liking this amp so far.

I tried buying one of those when they came out.

Twice.

Couldn't seem to get one shipped that wasn't destroyed by UPS.
I remember some of the early ones had problems with the output transformer also. I think they sorted it out though, and they are very cool amps!

Yes the terrible years '05-'07 with the one transformer, bought an '08 2nd hand one some years ago that suffered from the same OT problem, got it rewound here in NZ, a good amp.

Congratulations! The 1974x had been my main amp for almost 20 years now. Takes pedals well and can definitely roar. I run mine with the 1974cx extension cab. Both have the original G12M speakers and they are well broken in. Every guitar I own sound amazing through this amp; various reissue Les Paul’s, ES-335, SG, Strat, Tele. Enjoy! 😎🎸👍
