• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

NAD (last night) 1982 Marshall JCM 800 4010 Master Volume 50 watt 1x12" combo

I can't get over what a great amp this is for all styles of music. I play mostly blues and classic rock, no metal or really hard rock at all and this amp is perfect. I wish I had bought one 40 years ago!
Awesome! I have my scanners out for one but nothing on the market yet over here..

Thanks! It took me quite a while of looking and waiting for this amp to come up. I bought a 4210 a few years ago thinking it'd be close enough. It was a good amp, but it wasn't what I was after.

Exactly. The 4210/2205 circuit is a different animal.

The 2204 and its combo variations is one of the classic Marshall circuits of all time.

I have a 2104 50 watt 2x12 combo from 1981. It is the 2204 circuit in 2x12 combo form. The amp says JMP on the face, so before they renamed it JCM, although nothing changed at first with the circuit when the name was first changed. It is an absolutely awesome amp! I have taken the amp out of the combo cabinet and put it in its own head cab. This way, I can use the 2x12 cab for multiple heads. I have three heads that I use with the speakers. I run a head through my Aracom attenuator, then into the speaker cab. Whenever I want to use a different head, I just plug that head into the attenuator. The speakers sound great with all the heads I use with it, which are a Dr. Z Route 66, a Rockitt Retro RR50 50 watt plexi replica, and the 2104 head. Gives me a good selection of Marshall tones from different eras. I want to add a Studio Classic to get the 1980s JCM tones.

Yep. It was a case of hoping that I'd like a clean sound, a dirty sound, and reverb. But, as primarily a blues, blues/rock, and classic rock guitarist who seldom plays hard rock, it wasn't the dirty sound that I was after.

Yep. The 2204 is the best. Basically the same amp from mid 70s JMP MV through JCM800 (vertical inputs) up until early 80s. My 2x12 version was chopped to a head!

I like that the switches now flip up to turn the amp on!

Is that a 6 cylinder Austin Healey engine???

That's beautiful! I was an MG guy (before jumping ship and buying a Miata), but a friend had a works prepared privateer race 3000.

I gigged a 4010 for maybe a decade. Killer amp, loud, a one trick pony but nailed that one trick.

Sold it because I needed a channel switcher. Still miss it tho.

I don't recall. It dates back to 2016 on my thumb drive. I've kept files on these amps (and many others) as long as I can remember. I get off on researching the heck out of these things.

That's fantastic - congrats! I was able to grab a 1983 version last year. Puts a smile on my face every day. First thing I did was turn it in to my tech as well. My other amps have been feeling neglected ever since.
I had an ‘83 JCM800 4104 about 10 years ago and that was a great amp. Hoping that the 4010 sounds similar.

My amp is still with my tech, issues getting filter caps and then a vacation. Hopefully I’ll get the amp this weekend.
