I don’t play my Fender amp often as my Mesa and Marshall amps, so I sold my BF Fender amp to help finance a new guitar.

Not to be without a Fender amp, this SF Deluxe will fill the need, and will be my new grab and go amp.

I have an Alessandro GA-SC64 on its way and then the amp will be going to my tech soon.

The SF amps can sound pretty good.

awesome and they sure do. I may be selling a few vintage fenders to get down to one or two 68-72 SF's as well.

It'll be a great amp; looks like it needs a few minor update/maintenance items done. Congrats!

Les Pauls do love DRs! If you can get that sucker up to 8 or 9 on the channel 2 volume, it's incredibly responsive and just wickedly good.

I really love that sound...but NEVER get to use it in a live band setting...only on recordings.

I don;t think I've ever used channel 2 on my fenders?

For me it's the difference between Marshalls and Fenders so it's always input 1 on the vibrato channel.
Fenders are used for rockabilly tunes etc with the band, and the Ms for blues.

I have a 72 or 73...I forget what it is.
It has the Oxford speaker that the internet hates.
But the internet never owned a DR.
I think it sounds great.
Everybody wants early break-up, but when they get ceramic magnets or a big voice coil clearance, they complain.

Yup. The internet hates blue and brown "turd" caps in Fenders too...but the internet has it's head up it's bum lots of the time!

My old Magnatone Troubadour 213 has an absolutely killer Oxford in it (12K5R-1)! That amp sounds pretty good with lots of speakers, but with this Oxford, man, it's over the top.

That's a lifer amp! Still can't believe I don't own as they're my favorite behind the twin/super/pro. Next in line.

I used to have a '66 Twin Reverb that had a little work done to it by some legendary amp guy in Florida whose name escapes me. It had JBL's too. That thing was glory in a cab. Huge, warm, perfect touch, just a damn fine Twin. So when the broke self sold it because GAS and opened it to take chassis shots? Full of those "turrible tone killing" orange drop caps.

You'd think that amp would have been this nasal sounding anemic thing given the caps/speakers but it was 180 from it and perhaps that's a product of whatever changes were made. But, it still just sounded like a Twin, wasn't a hot amp or anything. Ended up at Blackbird studios so it's hopefully still getting some love.

Nothing better than the blind test to let ya know where you stand.

Thanks.

I can’t think of the name of that famous amp guy either. He was pretty well known for working on and building Fender amps. I recall that he lived just a couple of hours south of me (Tampa), in the Ft Meyer’s or Naples area. Sadly I believe he passed a way some years ago.

Similar to your Twin Reverb, my best sounding BF Fender was a ‘65 Vibrolux Reverb loaded with Orange Drops and two vintage Jensen’s.

Anyway, I got my DR back from my Tech. New filter caps, new 6V6’s, and one bad cap replaced.

Pretty happy with it, but I may still have him BF mod it later on.
