My two Goldtop Norlins

These two lovely Goldies are from the "bad" Norlin era but w/ some set-up love from Joey@ Gibson custom shop - they are both incredibly great lesters !! These are both leagues above the 5 Historics I've had. I almost declared "I'm not a Lester guy" until the '72 came around. The '73 was a more recent aquisition from LP forum member

I don't post often but have gleaned a ton of info from you guys - so I wanted to say thanks and show you my pair of GTs

Danocaster, those guitars look great!!! I love Goldtops, and can't wait till my R7 looks like yours. But no fake relicing, it has to come from playing it, which I do alot!

I bet you a set of SHED p90's would sound great in that LP!!!! I have some in an LP Special, and the've got the raunch of my early 60's p90's.

I love em' both! Take the pickguards off and they would be perfect. No sense in covering up that beautiful gold checking! (I can't stand pickguards on any Les Paul). I love Norlin Les Pauls. No "weight relief", "swiss cheese", or "chambering". One solid burnin' hunk of whoop ass!

LOVE the checking, both look like Tone Monsters! The only people who rag on Norlin era Pauls are those who haven't stumbled across a good one yet - keep looking, they ARE out there!

You sure you wanna swap out the P-90's? As you have 'em now you've got the best of both worlds & can go back & forth as the mood hits ya. As for the pickguards I say keep 'em on, to my eyes L.P.s just look incomplete without 'em. But hey, to each their own...

The P-90s are STAYING in for sure. I may try some other brands ( just to see). I'm both a Voodoo and Lollar dealer so it would be fairly easy / cheap to try both sets. It certainly sounds great as-is

and the pickguards are going NOWHERE eace2

The P-90 one is 9 lbs 13 oz

Great looking guitars! I have taken off the pickguards on both my LP's. I think it looks good on a Goldtop, but I find it easier to play with it off. Also, most goldtops seems to have them on, so I wanted to be a little different. :wah
