OK SFK, I will try to post the clip again when I can. If you would like to see a picture, just check out the post with this link-http://lespaulforum.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=60122

BUT,constantly saying in the same sentence...."Historics won't do this and Historics won't do that" is pushing the rest of our faces in the shit.PERIOD.

Hey, I understand what you mean and I did this unintentionally. Ya see, I'm new to this old wood. I had always doubted that there was that much of a difference (and I still think they are very close) since my 99 sounds so good. So, it has been a new discovery for me that they do sound a bit different. I can see where I might would have taken offense to my comment in hind sight. But believe me, I am just finding out what others have said about it and was just reporting what I have just discovered. I'm one of these types that wants to try different things and report the results of my discovery. I truely did not mean to put down the historics. Matter of fact, I may try to do a clip with my 99 just to show how close they really are.

Thanks SFK! Well, here's the clip. Please remember that it is recorded with a crappy computer mic, so it's nothing special. Maybe you can hear the bell like quality and clarity on the notes though. This is with the neck pickup with a clean tone. She sounds a little like Pearly to me...

No need to apologize or explain yourself, Tim. I didn't find your initial post offensive at all. New wood is new wood and old wood is old wood. I have both, and the difference is obvious to those who are williing accept it.

Hi HP! Man I just wish I had the recording equipment so that you could really hear what it sounds like! Better yet, I wish I could hear you playing it in person! I'm just a hack you are a pro! Anyway, I am proud of it. It took alot of work to finally have the tone I cherish!

Hey Wolffan, I did not consider it an attack. I just think you may have prejudged my motives. I'm not one of the big burst collectors (some, btw, have been buying alot historics lately!) I salute them and their old wood! We're cool...

Thanks Wolffan!!

Jon, yes I'm doing them, but I'm slow as Christmas. I can only make about 2 sets a week.

That's a great clip, Tim. It sounds so classic.

BTW, I got the pickups, and they'll be installed really soon. Thanks again.

Hey Tim,
Check out the Bogner Shiva if you want a great amp and if you want something a little less expensive ,go with the Gibson Goldtone. Man those things rock too.I saw a young kid by the name of Holden Truelove playing in this blues club in my area, and his tone with a LP Standard ,was absolutely killer.

Yikes!!:dead: A couple of buds of mine are playing through those Flextones.Man those things are cold. Some of the models are close but there are no dynamics or warmth that only tubes can give you.I love my Shiva and wont be parting with it anytime soon.

Have you had an opportunity to compare the regular stop bars w/ the Aluminum light weight's?

Yes, I have on my 99 reissue. The light bar sounds more open.

So would I my friend! If you ever get down to the coast, be sure to toss that guitar in the back seat and bring her with you. I think my amp NEEDS to have some nice wood like yours played through it.

Hey, I sure will. I don't how often I'll get down that way any more. My folks moved off the coast to Birmingham this summer. But I hope to make it to one of your gigs one day!
