• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

My new amp project. Problem with speaker clearance on chassis.

I just got a beautiful Blonde 2x12 combo cabinet for my '62 bassman head. I have two Weber C12N's that I want to use. The problem is that there is not enough clearance between the amp chassis and the upper speaker. One of the transformers is about an inch too low and the speaker won't fit. I had the same problem with 2 C10N's I got for the upper two positions in a 4x10" Mesa combo. The speaker frame is wide and fairly solid, it doesn't have 'spokes' like an EV or certain JBL's. I had heard that Weber offers a 'basket cut' version of his speakers for use in the upper positions of a combo. Has anyone heard of this? Or has anyone ever taken a hack saw and removed part of a speaker frame? I really don't want to do this but the Webers sound great with this head and I'd like to use them.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
BTW, this is going to be a really cool looking and great sounding combo when I get through with it.

Whoops, I'm in the wrong section of the Forum.
Admins, could you please move this to Amplifiers.
Thanks,
George
