• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

My '06 R0 Darkburst has a new look and sound.

Well,I wanted to try out some new pickups I had. They are Rick Norman'(aka Dr. Vintage)Unburst set.Had them in my GT for a couple of months. They sounded so great that I wanted them in my Darkburst. When doin' the pu swap I thought I would also install some DMC rings and a Allparts replica guard.Looks and sounds killer IMO.I'm not yet used to it's new look as it had exposed reverse zebra' in it since I've had it.Truth be told,I tend to prefer the sound of covers anyway.
I also put on Allparts reflectors with the gold inserts and it's sporting an RS aluminum TP.Has always had Pigtail steel studs,DMC switch rig,nut and tip.
Next is some steel bridge posts and Uncle Lou' premium tips.
Well, here are some pics from earlier today.

Oh, I see. I thought maybe you put an early '03 serial number on it for looks and then the corresponding brazilian fingerboard made it sound better.:lol

Sorry Sean, but tone aside, it was pretty hard to beat the look of the zebras (especially on that guitar).

Nice looking (both ways), but I also really dig the reflectors and the zebras. Still, very nice!

That's what makes the world go around I suppose...I like the way it looks now. I might have thought harder about buying it if I'd seen it like this.

That looks beautiful, Sean! I think the change(s) make such a big improvement in the looks of what was already a great looking guitar.

Hey sean I love the look of the reverse zebras on this guitar. What kind of pups are those?

Sean I always thought that one was a beauty, I'm a covers on guy, your upgrades are very tasteful.

BTW, did you put an aluminum ABR in or just the TP?

wow my guitar is having total opposite effects, im getting a darker ambering color under the pickguar, the sun is fading out the amber/yellow color of the center of my washed cherry burst, along with the red fading out a bit.

then again im not a smoker :)

Thanks.I did try out a Pigtail ABR(Zinc)on it but,the Pigtail parts I have are relict and don't go well with the gloss finish IMO.They look great on my GT though.I plan on getting a non relict Zinc ABR from Steve soon.

The zebras are an early set of Wolfetone Dr. V's.As a matter of fact they are the first set with the lower neck wind.
