• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

More pickup ID please! Double white 1980

I just bought his 1980 Gibson Humbucker. The seller puts it at 7.3k
I want to fit it to my ibanez LR 10 as I don't particularly like the pickups in it for classic tones. It will go in the neck I think.
I have a 1981 les paul with Shaws and love them. Also always liked t tops. Is it either of those?

Cheers!
David

It honestly looks like a Dimarzio PAF on a Gibson baseplate..the 3 holes on the bobbin top is what makes me think that..

double cream Shaw. A DiMarzio would be a much higher d.c. resistance reading. DiMarzio did not have the patent or trademark on double whites in 1980 like the have now..

I always thought Shaws were ink stamped. Velvet Brick maybe? Right time period.

Gibson Patent Applied For, or as more commonly known by the name I gave them here 16 years ago, Shaw Humbuckers.

I thought the 3 holes were all the same size, but when I could see a bigger image, it clicked.
The 70's/early 80's Dimarzios had 3 holes in the same spot, like these:

And there were cream T Tops too! Check out this '79 KM (not mine..)

But now that I think of it..besides the DCR, I think the Dimarzio's pole spacing is different..:##

I always fancied a KM model.
On a side note, I really loved the dimarzio paf in my '79 hamer. Wonderful sound.
