Hi
I have what looks like a 69 LP, it has no volute, no made is us stamp and a one piece body. It also has the one piece neck. The guy who sold it to me actually lied about that ( supp to be a 1 pc neck.. a late 68/"early 69" model) The guy also put embossed p-90s on it. Which I think are from a 72, if not mistaken.
I think it has a long tenon ( DON'T GO THERE!!)
Oh well, jipped on ebay. I guess it can happen!
Anyway, I just got some mini humbuckers and I need to know if anyone can show me the wiring schematic and most importantly, which cap/pot values will work best with it. As per the p-90s on it..I'll probably put them on ebay since they don't sound anything like my 54Lp, which rings out like an old goldie should.
Any help will be apreciated so I can try to restore this puppy.
Thanks

If it has a one piece neck, it's probably a '68 and I wouldn't be unhappy about that! "Small" headstock or "large"? As far as I know, the mini-hums work with the same pots and wiring schematic as regular hums. For my money, since the wiring's been changed, keep the P-90s (or get better P-90s).

Thanks for the reply.
That was a typo on my post. It actually has the 3 pc neck/1 pc body. Yeah, it has the Norling big headstock, too. I'd be happier the other way around..
I was expecting that but the dude jipped me.
Though as it turned out it's not a bad box at all. The p90s gimme me a headache on this one, though. I had a similar one with minihumbuckers and at least I could play it live. Meantime, my 54s p90s sound like angels singing. Whazapwidat?
By the way, I also have a 68 that someone routed for humbuckers and stripped to show a center seam, so I had the binding narrowed, shot as a faded sunburst and aging is on the way. Got real PAFs and old parts..we'll see how close to the money it's going to be.
Pics coming soon.
