i have an 80's shaw paf in my replica that i love...but the thing is really microphonic, i mean i can't use the front pickup on the guitar during solo's because it feeds back as soon as i switch to it..aside from potting, anyone know how i can fix this??

Microphonics in yopur pick-up

Sounds to me like your wax potting may have shifted resulting in some windings being affected by the wax movement and the Pick-up now feeds bqack.Have it re-potted and that should cure it.

If the pickup is covered, taking it off may help it out. Sometimes the cover gets microphonic. Also it could be one of the pole piece screws making contact with it. Check that out.

Was it squealing before you put the cover on it?
You could try just dipping the magnet in wax, instead of the coils. Sometimes that will fix the problem.
But if you need a quick fix, use the hot-glue technique:
put a piece of masking tape on the bobbins, in the center. Don't cover the pole pieces, just the center seam. Then run a bead of hot glue from a glue gun inside the cover- it doesn't hjave to be very wide or thick. Stick the pickup into the cover, and you're set.
To remove the cover, just hold a lighter to it for 10 or 20 seconds or so, and it'll pop right out.

nope it never did b4,ed...

i did have the amp sitting on top of another 2 12 and then a chair at the last two gigs when it was squealing, maybe that has something to do with it as well....
