LPF Booth at next year's Arlington show?

After reading the following from the Philly show thread, it got me thinking...

Although I didn't know anyone, the comradery at the My Les Paul booth amazed the hell out of me, it seemed like a bunch of good buddies hanging at a bar, but without the booze! Lots of nice guitars were displayed, especially the real 1959 Les Paul.
And the best thing about their booth was that no one was selling anything there, guitars, books, what have you.

I will definitely be attending future shows! And the MLP booth will be my base of operations, haha! I just have to become better friends with those guys, lol.

...how awesome would it be if the LPF did something similar at the Arlington show? Sure, a lot of members already know each other and hang out at the show (and outside the show). But I can't help but think that if we had a booth (if available) for members to display their guitars, hang out, and promote the forum, it could really go a long way toward boosting membership and reinforcing the newly improved, kinder, gentler reputation of the LPF.

Of course, we always get to see Tom W's amazing guitars at his booth (which is awesome), but imagine a booth where all the other heavy hitters, and us lightweights could bring a guitar or two (or more) for display (hint-hint CD, ATC, JB, etc.).

I, for one, would be willing to help, both logistically and financially, to get such a booth off the ground. Any thoughts?

Actually I was planning to picket the show right outside the entrance, in my LPF T-shirt, holding a big sign that says "GOD HATES FENDERS"

I think it's a great idea. Maybe Tom would let us share a part of his booth, or he could use his stroke with the powers that be, and get us a booth next to his.:dude:

Yes, Mike, I would imagine that a few months ago, you guys had your hands full resuscitating the forum (and doing a mighty fine job at it, I might add). But also, "a few months ago" probably would have been way too late to get booth space at last month's show. I would imagine that these shows fill up pretty quickly...especially the prime locations.

I think it wouldn't work "in my booth", but I can talk to Ruth and see about the booth across from me, which should be a great location.


And for those who don't know or forgot, Lily was always opposed to this type of thing. And she had some good reasons.
One is, that it should be officially sanctioned by the Admin, rather than just anyone making a booth and calling it an LPF booth.
But, I think it is something we can do.
Keep in mind, there are some significant costs involved, so it will take planning and maybe some financial help. But we have lots of time to consider and make a plan.

Small booths are 10’ x 10’ for $475, and come with 1 table, chairs, sign, two badges and electricity. 10’ x 20’ booths are $695, and come with 2 tables, chairs, sign, 3 badges and electricity.

Now all we need is for Renderit to agree to donate several kegs of his brew and you can sell his beer to recoup the costs...:rofl

I think Tom's already says "Les Paul Forum," and he always has an amazing display of vintage Les Pauls. He is a great ambassador for the forum.

I was really disappointed not to make Arlington this year, because one of my bucket list items would have been to jam with Pat and friends in Fort Worth at the jam he organized.

Keep in mind that there are quite a few of us who purchase VIP admission badges at $250 each. All it would take would be for three of us to pool our $250, and we have enough for a 10' x 20' booth, which would include the 3 badges. I'd be more than willing to go this route...at the very least.
