• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Just wondered if most of you guys wipe down your LP after use, and run something underneath strings to get that "gunk" off. While I have a Traditional LP (2011), I play my strats and Tele way more often. I don't usually bother doing it with those guitars. But for some reason I notice buildup of gunk on strings more on my LP and also feel I have to wipe down the back of the neck (gets sticky) regularly. Just seeing what others do ... thanks.

I always do a wipe down after playing. I usually hit the neck and the top, especially where my forearm rests but also around the knobs, and always the strings. For my beater acoustic, I just do the strings and occasionally the neck. I've never thought about running anything underneath the strings.

I only wipe down my strings and the back of the neck and only if I've played a gig which are not frequent. But then most of my guitars are journeyman relics so I don't care about making them shine. However my new Les Paul Standard 50's is glossy and new and I find my self now wiping down the body. Pain in the butt. I wish it had fake wear.
When I play at home I might wipe strings and the neck once a week or when the neck feels a bit gunky.

Luckily, my hands stay very dry so it's rarely, if ever an issue

After I am done playing I always wipe down the strings and the back of the neck .
This. It is a good habit to have and takes no time and little effort. I keep low lint cotton string cloths with each guitar so I don't forget.
