• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

From time to time I like to inquire this on forums.

Who are the most prominent guitar players as of today?

I'd list:

John Mayer (I really like his blues skills and Grateful Dead playing).

Joe Bonamassa

Philip Sayce

Jared James Nichols
(the boy can PLAY!)

Artur Menezes (young fellow from Brazil, now based in California, pretty good bluesman)

Add your favorites!

My brother Jared James Nichols

Eric Steckel - pretty mean playing

Tyler Bryant - I love this dude all around. Guitar Playing and songwriting.

I'd like to submit Dan Auerbach (the Black Keys) and Pablo van de Poel (DeWolff).

Joe B is really great… looking forward to his new album…

Slash remains my all time favorite… he still counts as modern days… keeps coming with amazing new material…

I'm a jazz guy mostly, so I'd say Kurt Rosenwinkel and Julian Lage.

What's the definition of "modern day guitar hero"? One that is still alive?

Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys often comes to mind when I think of newer rock guitarists.

I also hold St. Vincent and Taylor Momsen in high regard.
