Les Paul TV jr reissue...

I recently purchased a Les Paul TV Jr reissue... The tone pot was bad- when it got to 0 it had full treble again. The replacement pot was in stalled by a friend that has been doing repairs for years..Now it sound a little more shrill- could it be my imagination( haven't had it that long) or could it alter the sound that much? Or is it a good thing i can adjust the treble on the amp and guitar and have more options- Thanks in advance!!

If he changed the value of the pot, it would do that. It's only a good thing if you like it.

I think that they are putting 500k's in both volume and tone pots in the reissue Jr.'s, originals had 500k volume and 250k tone. If your tone pot is 500k, try a 250k and see if you like it better.

In the interim, try rolling back the tone to 9 or 8(or 7) and the volume to 9.

Thanks ....rolling back the tone to 7 or 6 seems to get the tone i'm looking for... would the 250K pot make it warmer or just change to taper of how the tone goes down?

Others might argue but I think it just changes the taper. If you have a dark amp you might want to be able to push more sizzle, this way you have a choice.
