Great photos -- I had forgotten that as late as 1973, Bonham wasn't yet on a drum riser. Did that start on the '75 tour? :hmm

Also, JPJ must have shaved his mustache by the end of the '73 tour, as he's clean shaven in TSRTS film.

Great call on both points! Amazing about Bonzo’s lack of riser but ‘73 was still the dawn of the rock-show-as-spectacle (except for Alice Cooper?). JPJ messed with the “Song Remains” filmmakers by refusing to wear the same outfit for sake of continuity. Those early, rare ‘stache-and-tshirt JPJ shots are among my all-time favorites.

Sydney '73- Rustic- like a pavilion at an Upstate NY fish camp.
Great pics- but clearly JP has more than one burst going on here.

Seems like every year Bonzo would have a new drum kit. Ludwig Drums, Inc. must have been thrilled to have their logo advertised all over the world stages. So many other top drummers also played Ludwig drums at the time.

Anyone know the background on Ludwig's decision to offer Lucite drum shells for the kits? A radical departure from tradition plywood drums.

Only time they toured downunder Aussie and NZ.
We saw them at Western Springs in Auckland on Feb 25th '72....... here's a recording. Jimmy had a Marshall stack and used #1, the double neck and the crimson LP. The last pic in the vid is not from the gig.
A magnificent concert

So refreshing to note the conspicuous "absence" of multiple "stomp-boxes", and/or Bradshaw switching unit on the right side of the stage (Page's side)! And NO floor monitors out front! In the U.S 1973 shows....note the Marshall 4X12" extension cab on the left side....adjacent to JP Jone's Acoustic amps. Apparently, JP Jones needs to clearly hear Page's guitar sound on his side.

As I recall, Page only had an EchoPlex, phase shifter, and wah-wah pedal, linked to his amps with traditional guitar cables. Not sure how the Theremin was connected to his signal chain.

I'll bet listening to that again brings back some memories Steve?

That's my listening sorted out for tomorrow morning, thanks Mate.
