• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Somebody say something controversial already. I’m dying here! I know the forum is a much happier place now, but it seems to have lost something in the process. Kind of dry in here, don’t you think? I mean, threads like the feud between LPM and I are rare, but fascinating. Look how many people “tuned in” on that one. It was reality forum at it’s finest! That stuff is so damn interesting to people, myself included. I understand it may be a bitch to manage those types of threads, but we need something real-time and interesting to read…

You don't have to be such a fag about it.

What exactly are the "ground rules" so to speak?

No religion, no politics....nothing that anyone could possibly disagree over????

I miss intelligent discourse about politics.... not that there was ever any around here!:lolspin

How about "my 57 classics will blow the doors off your PAF's any time"....

or...... I never played a Sunburst that sounded nearly as good as my 1979 Silverburst.......

The rules are the same as before. Except that now, you must be subscribed to participate in off topic conversations.

The hope is that those who were here specifically to cause trouble and dissension in any of the backstage threads have split. I'm hoping it's not as attractive to come here just to troll and cause trouble when it could mean losing $30 out of your own pocket - just to get the boot. :)

I think I sort of knew that already.... I guess everyone is afraid a little bit to step over the "line" whatever that is. I think it's great that it's no longer out of control here, though I do miss the heated discussions about politics, religion, environment etc.. a bit. Just a bit mind you. Most of it was pretty pointless. Trying to discuss or explain a moral, ethical or philosophical viewpoint on a guitar forum is sort of an excersize in futility anyway. I guess you have to take the good with the bad and we will all slowly develop a place to hang out together.

I saw a really great and what I considered thought provoking column that I was hoping to post here. After I thought about it for a milisecond I posted it on another forum... only to be accused of looking for a fight by another forum member I have a decent relationship with (well amicable I think).

I've come to the conclusion that to discuss deeply anything not related to music such as the aforementioned topics or something a bit spiritual or philosophical on forum such as this is not really beneficial. Or maybe it is now that we can expect no one to come here just to troll and cause trouble. Then again how many people really want to have thought provoking discussion about any of that stuff? It does tend to turn into barb tossing....

How about those Mets???? Potato (Not Potatoe Dan) salad anyone?:lolspin

I don't think anyone is afraid to talk about controversial stuff. I just think most folks are tired of it. Give it a rest.

I think there's a very necessary "cooling off" period going on. There have been a few attempts to stir the pot, but I, for one, am not in the stirring mood. I'm sure as folks get to know who all's hanging out and what the general climate is, things will return to the biker bar this area is famous for. Right now, I'm enjoying the peace and quiet.;)
