• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I bought a Murphy Lab R-9

Well, it's a really nice sounding, nice playing guitar! I'm pretty impressed as I've played alot of old ones and this one is right up there with those. It doesn't have a "New" feel or sound to it!
But what strikes me a very odd is the hardware is all new looking, but the body, neck, etc is aged. It's like they got 1/2 way through aging it and quit.. WTF?

Well, I just bought one also. Any thoughts on whether these will retain their value? After talking to a few dealers, they seem to be selling pretty well. If these LPs retain the initial value, will it increase from being an early version release from the Murphy Lap in the Curleigh era? It'll be interesting.

Haha! My R8 is the opposite, It’s not a Murphy lab, but the hardware looks very aged.. Very nice looking and well done but the finish of the guitar is new and shiny, it looks bizarre. I can’t understand why they do half of the guitar aged, either way.
