I'm not sure about that DR? I've been wrong before and no doubt will be wrong again, but to my knowledge, they're solid mahogany.

Here a pic of my old '57 Black Beauty, it was one of the very first coming out of the custom shop in 1993. It was caught in a guitar store fire, the day it was delivered. All hardware has been replaced as it obviously was ruined. It is clearly built the same way as a standard, just with a mahogany top instead of maple. A solid mahagony guitar, but not a one piece guitar.

I need to get this thing back. My buddy owns it now, we made a trade for something in the early 00's, it's since had the neck replaced because it kept breaking.

One piece mahogany bodies vs. mahogany tops have been a bit hit ot miss over the years with '57 BB Reissues.

It's been advertised as a single piece body for the last couple of years in the Gibson website though.

Why is Gibson soaking people $800 more for white paint versus ebony paint on a LP Custom? This happened within the last year I believe. No lies, no truth stretching. Why?

Probably because Alpine White ia a hard color to paint anything. Your workspace and spray guns have to have no imperfections.

I've been told there was a time when white Customs were sprayed in Memphis for those reasons.

I hear you. White is difficult to at least match when necessary (my father was in the autobody business). But to straight up paint from primed? The same $5,000 covers "hard" to paint. Still eager to hear about an $800 upcharge for white from the horse's mouth.

It’s because the price of titanium dioxide went astronomically high (white pigment)

Also when will Gibson pick dark fretboards for the reissues???

Hey @matkoehler are you able to tell me if current CS P90's are different from Gibson USA P90's? ...I can't find any specs on the P90's used in CS Les Paul's, specifically which magnets are used and whether they are unpotted like 50's P90's.

Hey everyone. This may sound like a dumb question.

The Music Zoo just got back to me, and they said they're alright with the changes that I've made to my M2M order.

They then asked me to submit my final 'build sheet'.

What is a build sheet?

My M2M order is the exact same specs as the LP Custom Black Beauty on the Gibson website, so I don't get why I need to type everything out verbatim in an email.

When I did my M2M ES 335 order 2.5 yrs ago I sent pics of the style of paint job I wanted and the specs of the fat unbound neck, the approx weight, nickel hardware etc etc, it was detailed.

Maybe you can cut it down a bit saying it's as per your specific approved spec and as per the Gibson LP Custom specs.

No, it's the usual Gibson LP Custom with 2 pups and gold hardware.

The only difference from the Black Beauty is that my M2M would be in that "plum crazy" finish that Mat told me about.

Another layer of protection for you /buyer to make sure the vendor gets your order right !

Yeah, I’m not sure why you’re complaining about this, unless your time is significantly more valuable than mine….if I were spending the coin on this, I would very gladly detail every single spec that I wanted, even if most of them were the same as a normal custom.

On their side, it protects Gibson from the buyer claiming something wasn’t to their desired spec and not going through with the purchase.
