i see you're from swedsville...say hey to "the greek" for me...if you might...if you know and/or run into him.:)

i didn't even know he was called "the greek" until a few weeks ago...and i've known him for over 30 years.

Well I like guitars, don't you? :) I know that some of the guitars came from you through this Greek person whom I don't know. I don't know any of these guys, I just think it's a cool museum.

I ran in to him this weekend. He and the brothers spent a good couple of hours talking about the good old 80's when they bought most of the stuff and as JJ Jones wrote; you Gil where mentioned more than one time.
It's a fun place to hang around in, I'm kind of biased since I've spent over a year in the project, designing the displays and the general layout of the place but still, I feel like a kid at Christmas when I walk around there, looking (and smelling) at all that amazing stuff.

I'm living in Europe these days so I think I'll plan a trip to see it.

Does anyone know of any particularly interesting guitars that are in the collection/museum? Explorers, Vs, Bursts, custom color Strats, (I did see a tag that said '1950 Broadcaster' in the video), early Martins, etc.? Are there any 18th or 19th century guitars?

pretty much:).

that place is a TOTAL joke. i'm so dumbfounded by how devastating it is; my limited vocabulary doesn't know a word to describe it. :3zone :3zone :3zone :3zone :3zone :3zone

i knew hjalmar holidayed in greece, but he's a god-fearing blonde nordic stockholmer...i was very surprised to hear the twins refer to him as "the greek".

Gil, please elaborate. Why is it a joke? To you, that have seen, owned and handled a trillion vintage guitars, maybe it is. But to the rest of us?

i guess i got the concept from norm in about '84. he called me with a beatup '59 burst he thought i might like. he told me it was hammered, but very curly. i asked him for photo's. he said he'd send 'em but that he couldn't hold the guitar for me while the photo's crossed the country (i can dig that). before we hung up he did tell me that the top was a joke. in that context...i knew that was a good thing. so. i told him; sold. he was right...it had a volume swell wear path that i think may have been worn down to the mahogany and a long scrath on the back deep enough to plant corn in. but...that thing was one curly fucker. (especially for 5.5k) so curly it rendered me demonic (photo to follow). a joke in a good way. keep in tune.

..so you mean it is a joke - in a good way? I'm sorry, my English is a bit limited. :)

Here's a photo I shot the day before the grand opening. It's Mike, one of the brothers, adjusting the lights in one of the showcases. The grand opening was a huge success for all of us involved in the project and we're really proud of the place.

Here's Mike again, adjusting the stand for a '50 Broadcaster. I have designed the stands exclusively for the museum. You can place the guitar in a normal upright position and also horizontal.

No offence but you look like you've been up all night partying hard and smashing plates.

The guitar is crazy. :salude
