Yeah, I'm not a fan of thin necks and like big full rounded types. I get a good chuckle every time I see some dimwit describe a thin neck as "FAST". It is all about the individuals own comfort and preference, nothing more. Why play one that is ill suited to your playing style?
So I went to the store and played that TY yellow and a "Carmelita" and to be honest, the Carmelita was just not right in my hand. TV Yellow felt just right though, and the guy working busted out some calipers and the dimension are shy of 0.03 from the PGK dimensions. From what he said it may feel really big but they can always shave it down to be similar spec as the TV Yellow.

Also side question, on the PGK I have an option for a headstock overlay and I can either do ebony or black plastic. I don't really know what would be the best choice...

I'd go Ebony, myself. Skip the plastic. It always looks like plastic.

Gibson uses cherry wood. It's a light color. Painted black. When it gets dinged it leaves light colored chips that are distinctive.

I thought Holly on the CS repro models, plastic on USA. Cherry is lighter than Ebony for sure but darker than most light woods. Pinkish brown and tan is what I find. None of my Historics seem like that and show a light wood like poplar or alder. My newest are 2013 so maybe they changed? Maybe it just appear lighter too me next to the darker cherry stain??

I always get ebony, it looks great.

Holly. my mistake
No biggie, I make 'em all the time. I wasn't sure if they still used Holly.

I wish they would use some Cherry, it can be beautiful and hard and stiff. Walnut is another local timber that I love. Not all the good wood is in the rainforest.

If I was still building I would make the back of a LP type outta beech.

I just bet it would sound good 'cause of all the xylem and phloem goin on.

Only problem is you can't stain the stuff worth a chit...

Don't know if this will be of much help. I recently bought an SG Special with the Slim Taper neck. I also have a 2002 LP Standard which also has the Slim Taper neck. But both "Slim Tapers" are different. Sorry, no contour gage.

Width at 1st fret on SG: 1.740. At 12th fret: 2.106
Width at 1st fret on LP: 1.710. At 12th fret: 2.038

Depth of neck at first fret on SG: .785. At 12th fret: .918.
Depth of neck at 12th fret on LP: .820. At 12th fret: .959

Since you're considering a Slim Taper neck I guess all are not created equal which surprised me. But for me and due to the way my hands work (or don't!) I find the neck on the SG Special is much more comfortable than the LP's neck.
