• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I would look closely at the Gibson F5 Master Model. I've owned most of the big name mandos including Gilchrist. The high end ones are great and the Gilchrist is wonderful but there is something about Charlie Derrington's ( Gibson luthier ) Master Models that sets them apart. He owns and studies the original Loar F5 and comes astonishingly close. I A/B'd the master Model and a real Loar......VERY close and I think nearly as good ( this will be evry controversial to some ).

You might want to post on the Mandolin Cafe boards if you're looking for feedback on a particluar ionstrument. There's a very diligent crowd there with plenty of experience.
