Dont forget Hank Garland. He used a 345 and there are a number of 345 protoypes pictured in a recent Reverb Article

I intend on recreating this picture someday. I have two of these guitars, a 1960 Byrdland and a 1959 ES345. I'll fake it with the other two. (I'm no Hank Garland.)

The prototype ES345s Hank Garland had weren't really very "prototypey", they were regular ES345s - at least no one has documented that they were in fact, proper prototypes. Although I think he changed the chicken-head knob on one of the Varitones to something different.

Cool geetars! Here's a few. 1959, 1958, 1960, 1960, 1961.View attachment 27480
1958 is certainly a typo. (The blonde with Bigsby is a 1959 - and has been identified by Mr. S as such on a number of occasions. Unless there’s some new info!)

What a great collection!! Thank you as always for sharing!
The Argentine Gray 1960 is wild! (Second from right)

A friend is in the process of selling a very clean 61 blonde ES 345 - in the case 40 years & hardly played she inherited - very paranoid about selling & getting screwed - I've seen photo's - The stuff is still out there . She would tell me about this guitar she had she knew I bought & sold guitars I thought it's probably a turd , one day I was at her store shipping she showed me a picture I just about hit the floor . I told her I knew buyers being she is a friend I was very soft now the guitar is going to a dealer .

👆 Love that John worked diligently to crack-up Paul during this taping and how Paul ends with a hand flourish... George goes for that 345 beauty even thought it's believed he contributed tambourine at most to the recording.
