• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

My thoughts exactly, Joe. The first couple of "59" pics look suspiciously clean and the "58" posted above for sure is a RI. I don't have a smoking gun, they just don't look real.

I was thinking the exact same thing...:lol2

Well gee - that's THREE "Native American Astronauts" in ONE place - who knew?!:lolspin :lol2 :lol1

FWIW, I don't think it's a "Reissue", it's more likely either some sort of conversion or a '58 Retop (There ARE a few genuine '58 Gibsons, both plaintops and goldtops, that got retopped in the '70'a & '80's). My point is, that AIN'T "1958 Gibson Michigan Maple" livin' on THAT guitar. . .;)

I just received this e-mail :

Hi Christopher,I'm Joe Campagna the tech pictured on F.Sullivans
website.I've been building and repairing guitars and amps for the last
27 years in the Chicagoland area.I was a road tech for Survivor in the 80's.
The guitars pictured on the website are a mix of Historic and
real guitars.I know Frank has a genuine 1959 burst.And 2 Genuine 1960
bursts(1 was stolen 0 0202).He has quite a collection of vintage
stuff.Unfortunately the photos are inaccurately captioned.The 58 is a
historic, the blonde strat is a relic, the goldtop is real etc.I know Frank
would not try to decieve. He owns too many vintage pieces to need to.
Thanks Joe.

...weird, or what ? :eek ... I wasn't necessarily questioning the
veracity of the guitar I posted - I did have doubts but am in no
way an expert - so why the above ? anybody else get one ?

Strange, but at least it sorts things out :)

Frankie Sullivan is a pretty good guitar player. I believe the muted palm riffs on Eye of the Tiger was a Les Paul, but the rest of the melody was a Strat.
The Search Is Over was also a LP.
