• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I think it’s some guys in Europe with the SD pickups guy as their USA distributor.
?
That answer from CK6 is a fair description about the Four Uncles ABR-1 bridge replica !
but the "SD pickups guy" is one of the Four Uncles not just a distributor !

I get that well made guitar parts are a must if you want to get the best sound and performance from your instrument. But honestly I don't get the extreme cork sniffing, and dubious before/after comparison demos.......subtle differences in sound that would barely be audible to your family's pet dog.

Minor adjustments to my guitar's tone controls can produce nearly identical changes in tone as demonstrated in the Four Uncle ABR-1 comparison videos. And it doesn't cost me a dime!

Have to disagree - try it yourself and you’ll notice the difference. Videos don’t do it justice but as the player you’ll hear the difference.

Its all the little things that add up..!

I have a Faber, an original patent number with foundry mark and original brass saddles, a patent number with no foundry mark and just ordered the Crazyparts limited edition model.

Are any of you FU gentlemen willing to send me an FU bridge to compare to the one I am building? I am humbly curious as to how I hold up.

For Mr. Legit ^^^
How do you know it is Zamak 5? If it is, it is going to be interesting. I own just about every reproduction and vintage bridge available from (DMC(My Favorite), Faber, Montreux, Pigtail (Respectfully), Kluson, Solo, 1960’s, and 1950’s). I want to see what I could do versus four people.

I do not mean to offend anyone with an FU bridge. I am just passionate about this.

Mr. Legit, I sent you the link so you could check it out in case you were not aware of it.

What is a DMC?

It stands for Dead Mint Club. They made the first accurate reproduction ABR-1. To my understanding, they were also die casted. If they still made them. I’d opt for that over just about any reproduction so far, but they are rare and expensive now.

I’d be interested to see what name FU puts on the bottom of their bridges as well, but there is no mention of that.

Mr. Legit, I am very interested in what you come up with and it appears that everything in the design and manufacture (method, machines, materials) seems to impact the tone, harmonics, sustain and attack. That strange metallic harshness most of us hear I believe comes from materials. Different alloys of the same metal appear to make a difference.

Save your $$$. Just throw some of these on your existing Historic ABR and call it a day…
