I will be posting progress and pics for a 5E3 build.

In the meantime - the kit came with Richey 22uf x 500v filter caps.
I have not heard of these before...anyone have opinions of this brand ?

I have a set of F&T caps as a alternative.

The top is the F&T...
The lower two are different aspects of the Richey caps...

The 5E3 kit is from one of the most respected providers...he certainly knows more about 5E3s than me.

I've just not heard of Richey in the mainstream.

F & T has an established reputation.
Richey looks like one of those generic stampings.
Likely nothing wrong but be aware it might be a relabled cap that didn't meet original spec for value.

F&T's seem great. The Spragues are only huge in order to look period accurate.

The only thing I could find about Richey is that they are headquartered in Nashville with manufacturing in China and Taiwan. They proclaim high end performance.

Hmm...

Are you using 22's for all the cap positions? Not that it's bad (I did the same thing) but the one kit I'm aware of that ships 22 caps across the board came with a lot of cheap parts I ended up replacing, including cheap chinese electrolytics similar to yours.

Go with the F & T's! I work on amps everyday that I'm not out doing shows with my band. The F & T's exceed the specs they post and last considerably longer than what they state.
The Richey's are most likely made by the same company that makes the Illinois caps that Fender uses. I can't tell you how many of these I've replaced in amps that were maybe 2-3 years old cause they started to hum. Filter caps should last 7-10 years before they start to drift and degrade. The Illinois caps start to go bad sooner than most others I've seen and I'm guessing the Richey's are probably in that same category.
