Hello, I just brought a Bassman Reissue and I want to know how old it is.. I know its been gigged solid for at least 15yrs. The guy said it was a pre reissue custom order but not sure? its a killer killer amp!

serial number is AA01252

Anyone know how to date them?

AA is a strange prefix for a tweed bassman. Here's the definative list for dating by serial number.

....nevermind, just saw reissue. I'm not sure dates are relevant for these. Early ones had blue alnico Eminence speakers that a lot of people like.

Hi mark

i have dated vintage fender amps in a similar way but this is the way to date reissues

All Fender amplifiers manufactured from 1990 to the present include a date code, printed on the quality assurance (QA) sticker on the back of the amp chassis. This black-and-silver sticker contains several lines for “sign-offs” on completion of sound and electrical testing. The final line contains a date code of two printed or handwritten letters denoting the amplifier’s production date by year (the first letter) and month (the second letter).

In the table below, for example, a “CE” date code indicates a production date of May 1992.

YEAR MONTH

1990 A January A
1991 B February B
1992 C March C
1993 D April D
1994 E May E
1995 F June F
1996 G July G
1997 H August H
1998 I September I
1999 J October J
2000 K November K
December L

you could also look at the date codes on the tranformers and look for consistency

hi mark

no the serial number is totally different and doesnt really have a bearing on it you need to look at the QA sticker

it will litterally have 2 letters like the CE given in the example

give me a call tonight if you are struggling
