It was suggested to start a faux binding thread, so here are mine. I did two Tributes a while back, scraping the paint from the maple cap with a snap knife before refinishing with Mohawk instrument lacquer. The dark vintage burst guitar with the P90s, the paint came off easily but the honeyburst required a good bit more effort. In the end, both scraped with a clean edge and looked good after spraying the clear coat.

These look great.

You must have a steady hand and nerves of steel.

Gibson should be doing these on Studios, a la PRS.

Is that on the side only, or did you also tackle the top? I refinished the top on a '19 Traditional that I'd bought after a previous owner stripped and clear coated it, poorly. Mine tuned out good after the 4th attempt. Spray trouble but also binding scraping, specifically the top. By comparison scraping the side seemed to be a piece of cake.
Both guitars of yours look much better than before. I like binding and gloss.

Thanks. I did the top, 1/8" in and sides, 3/16" down. The snap knife seems to be the perfect tool as you can control how far the blade is out. And there is the handle that you can run against the body of the guitar.
