My '82 RI came with a strange looking bridge,
which you have to adjust the saddles from underneath the bridge.
I.E ...you have to remove the bridge for adjustment
of string length.
Never saw anything like it. (Kalamazoo bridge he..he.. )

DGK......
I believe that if the 3 last digits in the serial # is below 500,
then the guitar comes from Kalamazoo.

"PAF's"

dgk.....

the original pickups would be the "Gibson PAF's" of the time,
designed by Tim Shaw, (I guess).... nice underrated pickups.
These have 2 sets of numbers, one of them inked on.

Well it looks like I'm going to be doing my own comparison between the Gibson USA and the Historic 335's. I have a flamed out blonde '59 335 Reissue on the way (will be here on wednesday). I did a trade/cash deal for a CS Strat I had on hand.
This axe looks beautiful (pix to follow), but we'll see how she holds up tonally with my Cherry flamed USA tone machine.

Said flamed out 335 blondie arrived via Fed (up) Ex. Sat out in front of my house in the box all day long...oh, btw, it rained off/on all day. Last time I use those cretins. Took her in, dried off the Brown Canadian form fit case, opened her up, and ...Voila!
Dry and spry...very beautiful on the eye. My, my,my... :)
Alright, out of poetry mode... I have a USA 335 Dot Neck in Cherry Flame that I will compare with the '59 Blondie over the next few days. Hey, somebody's gotta do it! ;) On eye candy value alone...the Blondie just scorches the Cherry, although they do look very good together...Cherry and Vanilla. Very sweet top/sides/back. Dark Mahogany neck that is about the same dimensions of my R9...in a word, perfect. I played her briefly last night through my '66 Tremolux 210 Piggyback. Sounded very warm and played very easily all up and down the neck. No dead spots, set up was right on, action just the way I like it. As I had a jam session to get to, I had to leave her behind. Tonite is my wife's birthday, so the in depth evaluation will happen friday/saturday. I'll get pix up on my photopoint album as well.
More later,
Steve

No Dave,
I am putting the Custom on the back burner for now. After the deal for the 335, again the cash situation changed. I did do a deal with Dave's Guitars for an American Standard Tele for alot less dough. I plan on getting the '57 BB RI first of the year @ bonus time.
