• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

1956 - The one he's using regurlaly during his tours for over a decade. Bigsby isn't original to the guitar

Bonus mention to that awesome 1955 Esquire. Seymour Duncan was the former owner and put that pickup in there

Is that an exhibition of his guitars somewhere? :hmm

Yes, but only for the 55s (Les Paul and Esquire). First pic is from Travelling Guitars exhibition in Paris back in 2006/07. They also had the Hendrix/Zappa strat at the time

The other pics are from Interstellar Exhibition, a major Pink Floyd exhibition wich had almost every piece of gear they ever used (ok, maybe not almost every, but a big chunk). It was also in Paris, back in 2003/04

The pic of the 56 goldtop with the 55 esquire has just been uploaded on David's facebook page, I think it was from his recent historical comeback to Pompeii

I saw him play the Goldtop last September in Brighton, UK, during an intimate warm up gig for his current tour.

It was the first song and first guitar he played that evening.

It was almost as beautiful as his wife Polly, who was sat a few seats to my right that night.

Actually, the one pictured in the original post above is a '55 with a gold back. Used on "Brick 2", "Poles Apart" and "A Great Day for Freedom", as well as a couple others and a bunch of tracks on the live Wall shows.

The one he's been using recently is a different guitar. A dark back '56 with an original factory bigsby. Used on the first solo of "On an Island", "This Heaven", "Pocketful of Stones" and "5am".

auction estimate of 30-50 for the GT used on Brick on the Wall solo...if it goes for that I'd consider that well bought!!

You do realize it's the same DNA that's in his ass, right? :ganz :laugh2:

I don’t care where it comes from! Either does the DNA. Jack Nicklas and Beethoven said something similar about the hours/practice involved at a craft. But even David Crosby marveled at his touch while making an appearance on one of his efforts. Like so many, you can recognize a Gilmour solo from the first note. Ok, maybe the 2nd. :2cool
