• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

My blue sparkle top Deluxe which I've had since 1987 has 4 clear
barrel style knobs w/white numbers. Does anyone know if these
are correct for this model? It seems most of the blue sparkle tops
I see have "gold" tophat style knobs w/ metal insert Everything
else on the guitar is original and I was curious about the knobs.

Knobs

You are correct in assuming the correct knobs are gold tophats with the metal insert, if the guitar is a 75 or 76.

Thanks Drew.

Does anyone out there know if Gibson makes exact replacements
If not I'll probably go with something cream colored which would
match the other plastic as gold seems somewhat out of place
on a blue body with chrome hardware. Some of that "Norlin" philosophy

Hey sparkletop
Yes my Basalt Blue has gold top hats with metal inserts and is original. I have a few chips on the rim of the knobs & was recently looking at buying a pair of Gibson replacements - just to stop my fingers from sometimes getting lacerated. They seem the same but I haven't inspected them closely.

Yeah I found a set of the gold replacements today and actually they look quite good on the guitar. My apologies to Norlin! All's right in the Les Paul world now.
