IMO smooth, scooped in the mids and bright. Such a great combo in a LP. I see why they are played by so many.

I had a 1999 '61 Reissue SG with 57 Classics that sounded fantastic. I recall them being very even and clear, worked perfectly for slide and I preferred them over the Habaneros and Marshallheads that I cycled through. Parted ways with the guitar as it had infuriating neck dive but I kick myself for not trying the pickups in my R7.

57 Classics came stock in my 1999 R9 and sounded wonderful right out of the gate. Of course, we chase our tail and always try to get a little better than before, so I have been through almost every conceivable boutique pickup out there. With that said, the 57 Classics always end up going back into this guitar and I get reminded each time, what made me fall in love with it's sound in the first place.
