• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

The plug on my amp is deteriorated and a bit of a mess. I would like to replace it with something more modern and frankly, a little safer. What is out there to replace it that would not require modifying the chassis?

The top one is the type that came on old Marhsalls. The bottom one is a "Mini Bulgin", Blockhead used those, they're kinda cute!

As far replacing the stock Bulgin, on a vintage Marshall? Might be a crime in at least the lower 48 States to replace it with anything other than a NOS replacement. The plug on your amp is probably 40 to 45 years old, get an NOS replacement and you're probably good for another 40 years at least.

Keep an eye on eBay, they come up for sale fairly often. Check some vintage Marshall forums, like the Plexi Palace. You'll find one.

Who or what is TAD?

NOOOOO! an IEC will not fit & the chassis needs to be modified! DONT DO IT. post a pic of your damaged Bulgin. I bet it can be repaired. I have put together heaps of bulgin cords & converted UK to USA ones as well. Its very simple. I can put one together in less than 3 minutes. If you want to mail it to me, I can do it for you.

I didnt know they made one like that. Very cool. The older style IEC does not fit & there are many vintage JTMs & JMPs that were chopped & filed to squeeze one in.

No worries. I don't want to chop the chassis and would keep the original parts. I just need a safe solution without exposed wires that little fingers could potentially get into
