Bridge post spacing

Hello,

Quick question if I may, can someone tell me if the post spacings for a Nashville bridge are different to those for an ABR-1?

Reason I ask is that I bought a Faber ABR-1 that supposedly fits Nashville posts but it doesn't.. The holes on the Faber are closer together. So I'm wondering if I got the wrong one or there's something different with my guitar

Cheers

The spacing is different for standard Nashville and ABR bridges - I think it's 2-30/32" for Nashville and 2-29/32" for Abr-1. However, sometimes what people have found is that there's enough wobble in the Nashville posts that a third-party ABR can go in IF the holes are big enough for the posts. Since it's only 1/32" difference, that is usually the case.

Do the holes in the Faber fit over the Nashville posts (in other words if you just put one end of the bridge on one post does it go on)?. If not, you might have gotten the Faber that is meant for ABR posts. I think the Nashville version should fit the posts Nashville posts fine.

Hi Guys, thanks for the help.

The ABR bridge holes fit the Nashville posts fine (it's actually a looser fit on the pins than with the nashville bridge), it's just the spacing that stops me fitting it. I actually ordered the NSWKIT pins that screw into the existing inserts but unfortunately they sent me the BSWKIT instead, which I've not fitted.

Problem is, I received these parts 3 months ago and only just got around to fitting them so technically I've got no come-back. I'd try ordering again but would like to be sure I'm ordering the right bits and that they (if the parts I have are incorrect) actually do fit. My order does tally with the parts listed on the website as being correct for my guitar. There is only one style of Nashville isn't there?

Just wish they would respond to my email:dang

Thanks again

I have a Gotoh ABR that fit on my Nashville studs with no trouble but ended up going back to the Nashville bridge. If you want to give it a try, shoot me a PM with your address and I'll send it to you (assuming you're in the US). It's nickel, no wire - one of the newer ones that uses c-clips to retain the saddles.

Thanks JJ - very kind. I'm in the uk though. I'd like to try and resolve this as I spent ages researching all the options and it's disappointing to say the least that I haven't gotten to try the Faber bits out.

Should've fitted them straight away - will I ever learn!

Cheers

I don't think you've ever said what guitar this is going on, is it a Gibson or other US-made guitar or an import?.

I also have a Gotoh ABR that fit on Nashville posts, but the Gotoh bridge was crap so I can't really recommend it for a player guitar. Others have had better experience with Gotoh than me, so judge for yourself.

Hi again, sorry yes - it's an Gibson '89 Standard (the one in the avatar).

Well I feel a bit of a fool as I have managed to get the bridge to fit. It took a bit of squeezing and playing around with the (nashville) post heights but finally it got to a point where I could comfortably push it down. I was worried that I would put excessive strain on the posts but I can still adjust the height, (just - it's a bit tight) so I think it's ok.

I suppose I was being cautious after discovering I had the wrong post kit supplied. Anyway, sorry if I have caused any concern to potential Faber buyers - I guess that there are slight tolerance differences in parts and guitars.

At least this means I can now try out the new bridge! I bought a tailpiece at the same time and I am pleased with that..

Thanks to all for the help

Then too, the post spacing may have been a bit off on your Gibson, this happens from time to time. The bridge posts on my '03 R0 are space too far apart, and the stock ABR-1 barely fits on that guitar. It came from Gibson that way.

Thanks Gary - that was what I wondered too.

New posts (NSWKit) arrived from Faber today so now I'm all set.

Cheers
